Come along with me, "Discovering" WNY's small towns!
It's been said to me several times, that "Discovering WNY" looks like my personal love letter to small town Western New York and that's probably as accurate a statement as anyone could make about the show and I. A small town was where I was raised, where my heart is, where I have lived for the majority of my adult life... and honestly... where I feel I belong. Yes, I know you're hearing that old John Mellencamp song rattling through your nogg'n at this point, but HEY!!!... it's true! I deeply love small communities. They spark my sense of wonder, imagination and creativity as well as my sense of the past, the present and my very tiny place within that continuum. I simply feel at my best inside the crooked-sidewalked, tree-lined boughs of a small town. And isn't that what we are all searching for? Our place? Our space? A place and space where we can't help but feel our best, highest self pouring out of us? I feel fortunate to know exactly what and where mine is and what simply... lights me up. This show is a bit of everything I know and love about the sheer wealth of small town gems we have peppered here throughout WNY as well as anything else that I am continually "discovering" as I pass through them all on my daily adventures. Now, this doesn't mean that you'll never hear or see me wax poetic about the great cities we have here (I lived in both for a few years each), but as it is, the majority of the show's content is deeply focused on getting out... of the city... and "discovering" all that the region has to offer! "Discovering WNY" simply reflects my deep and abiding commitment to creating high-quality, locally-produced, fun and educational television for the region and is the culmination of over 19 years of work creating and producing locally flavored television programs and other peripheral media. First in New England from 2000-2004 and then the San Francisco Bay area from 2004-2014 and finally, here, back home, in WNY since April of 2014. The show is full of local sights, insight, stories, features, fascinating history, and great people from small towns all over the region all interwoven together in a multi-media adventure that features a little fun-filled educational content along the way. I hope you enjoy the wealth of content I provide and find it inspiring enough so that you yourself, go "discovering" and have your own great adventures throughout WNY! Because at it's heart, that's what this is ALL about! I sincerely thank you for watching my show and for your continued support and I hope to meet you all out there on the road sometime soon! ~A. A.
