"The deepest answers we seek are a lot closer to home than we care to think." ~AA
About the SMALL TOWN EDITION
At it's core, the "Small Town Edition" of show is about the hundreds of small towns & villages we have peppered throughout WNY. Whether it's rural, suburban or urban (as in the Elmwood Village & the Hertal area) I cover it all!
Sharing my daily adventures with you in as many of them as I can, allows me to show you the world I see, through my eyes and heart.
My hope, and deeper mission with all of this, is that the show can inspire, even just a few of you to go get out there yourself. To see... for yourself. And if you're not happy with where you are... maybe even find a better, more fulfilling place. A better, healthier fit, that was just right down the road this entire time. Because, if life has taught me anything so far, it's that most times, the deepest answers we seek are a lot closer to home than we care to think.
In my very traveled opinion, the beautiful balance and synergy between a great small town or village, it's businesses and your quality of life, cannot be overstated. It is, in my opinion, the best type of mindful, park it and leave the car alone when I get home, more healthy choiced, green, balanced, life.
By making this choice, and creating a more in-touch, mindful, slower "on the ground" life as it were, we allow ourselves the opportunity to experience many more daily, peaked, experiences in our little place in the Universe... each and every day!
It deeply matters that we each become more and more connected to our homes, neighbors, neighborhoods and towns more than ever before!
So whether it's a small rural/suburban village like Hamburg or Lancaster or any number of Buffalo's "villages" and "neighborhoods" like Elmwood and Hertel, all that matters is that we are more connected to the people, places and things that we can touch, see, smell and feel that are all around us in the places we call home!
I hope you enjoy the wealth of content I provide and find it inspiring enough so that you yourself go "discovering" and have your own adventures throughout WNY. Because at it's heart, as I stated up top here, that's what this is ALL about.
I am deeply committed to single-handedly creating a hyper-creative TV travel show, website, photo journal and the companion soundtrack to it all as well as the daily sponsorship sales that fuels this whole thing.
Yes, it's admittedly a lot for one person to take on, but keep in mind that I've dedicated my life to this and have been at it for a long time. Everything you see here is the direct result of over 30 years of hard work creating and producing TV shows, music composition and production, graphic design, editing, videography and photography and on and on.
This journey started here in WNY through 2000, then in New England from 2000-2004, the San Francisco Bay area from 2004-2014 and finally, back home in WNY from April of 2014 'til now.
How is this all implemented, you ask?
Well, every month I produce multiple interstitial segments for PBS featuring the aforementioned subject matter from all over the region. Over the course of each segment's creation, I inevitably find myself "discovering" a lot that I didn't know and as you can guess, this all becomes the possible content for future, more specific segments. It's a very simple, very organic process that seems to allow whatever will surface... to surface... and I take it from there.
Sometimes I have co-hosts, sometimes I go it alone and sometimes it's a bit of both. Although this is a personal journey, I would love to hear from you to see what all of you find most interesting. This isn't about the obvious though. It's called "Discovering"... for a reason. So keep that in mind. If you have any ideas for subjects you'd like me to cover about your town, please send an email along to: firstname.lastname@example.org .
