2021-2022 Full Show Formats
Commercial TV hand-in formatting constitutes 5/5:00 episodes (25:00).
Each episode includes the 1:46 of exclusive "Made for Public TV" content with an additional 1:45 of 15 or :30 sponsorship ads creating the full 28:30 hand-in time that's required for Commercial TV stations.
This format would include an additional "best of the season" full 28:30 show that features 5 "fan-favorite" episodes.
This will supply stations with a new 6 show season every year.
These shows are best utilized as 6 week/one broadcast per week "seasonal fill-in shows" in between broadcast seasons for regular programming until I can produce enough episodes to cover a standard 13 show broadcast season.
Public TV hand-in formatting constitutes 5/5:00 episodes (25:00).
5/5:00 episodes (25:00) includes 1:46 of exclusive "Made for Public TV" content creating the full 26:46 hand-in time that's required for Public TV stations.
This show format will include the 24/5:00 new current season episodes for that year, plus an additional, full, 26:46 "best of the year" review episode that includes 5 "fan favorite" episodes.
This will supply Public TV stations with a new 6 show season every year until I can produce enough episodes to cover a standard 13 show broadcast season.
Same as the Commercial TV format.

Weekly Workload Time Tracker
~ 46 hours a week ~
23 HOURS FOR EDITING (46/2 Wks): New Segment Edits Weekly Allotted Times... - 9 Hrs for new segment editing on Wed, Thurs & Fri nights at 3 hrs per night - Sat day for 9 hrs - 18 Hours total from Wed-Sat
Older Segment Weekly "Hand-In" Edit Allotted Time... - 5 Hrs every Sunday for older segments TV prep edits
TOTALS... 18 Hours Per Week for new segment edits (Need 20) 5 Hours Per Week for "Hand-In" seg/shows on Sundays 23 Hours Total Per Week for new segments/TV shows
NOTES: For a 5:00 segment 20 hours is required so I am right on the time needed.
This is based on the industry standard edit/output formula of 4 hours of editing is needed for every 1:00 of final output.
This does not include the 5 hour show "Hand-In" prep edit time on Sunday afternoons which may or may not be necessary and or needed on any given week, or may be needed to do new segment edits or a variety of other show tasks.
If nothing needs attention and it looks like I will finish with the standard allotted editing time of 18 hours for the segment edit, say by Saturday afternoon, which is the goal, then this will give me Saturday night off as well as the following Sunday afternoon if nothing needs pepping for the "Hand-in" full shows to the stations. This situation may be rare. so I will see as I go.
I can also use Sunday afternoons to get a jump on editing, the writing, the comics, website updating, design and or maintenance or many other things.
23 HOURS TOTAL EDITING/WEEK
5 HOURS FOR SHOOTS (10/2Wks): - Fridays 11-4 - Need 1:00/Hr. of usable footage - Need 4:00 in 4+ Hrs. of usable footage
I am only using 5:00 segments with 4:00 of actual content.
I only have to capture 1:00 of usable footage per hour allotting 1 hour of set up and breakdown time on each shoot.
If my drive time to each shoot doesn't chew up the allotted full hour I have set aside for it, then that time can get counted toward the shooting time as well.
5 HOURS TOTAL SHOOT/WEEK
3 HOURS FOR WRITING (6/2Wks): Standard to plan for... Monday Nights 8-11
3 HOURS TOTAL/WEEK
3 HOURS FOR THE COMIC (6/2Wks): Standard to plan for... Tuesday Nights 8-11
3 HOURS OFF: Standard to plan for... Saturday Nights 8-11
Can potentially use Everyday form 6-8 as well if I need a day or for a date or to see family or to run to the store or anything.
3+ HOURS TOTAL OFF
CREATIVE/EDITING BENEFITS OF A BIWEEKLY PRODUCTION SCHEDULE: - The shooting, sales & editing times below are just the weekly allotted times - In actuality, I am creating and producing 1/5:00 segment every 2 weeks - In effect, this doubles my time that I can dedicate to each episode - I can take more time to produce better segments now
For the 5:00 episodes I am only actually having to create a total of 4:00 of final output footage and can now spend: - 46 Hours editing over 8 sessions - 10 Hours of filming over 2 successive Friday afternoons - 10 Hours prepping and editing for final output to TV over 2 successive Sunday afternoons
- That's a total of 66 Hours of time dedicated over 2 weeks for every 4:00 segment - Including the prepared "Intro & Outro" titles and credits that easily creates the 5:00 time per segment I need - This all equals 16.5 hours of time dedicated to each 1:00 of final output per segment every 2 weeks - This should be more than enough for one person to produce a world-class show and will change my life significantly
For the companion writing and comic pieces for each episode, this also doubles my creative creation time for them as well and gives me 6 hours for each of them over 2 weeks
SALES BENEFITS OF A BIWEEKLY PRODUCTION SCHEDULE: - This will give me much more time to sell and secure the 4 sponsors I need for each episode - A biweekly segment production schedule gives me 42 hours of sales to get 4 sponsors/per episode - That allows me to use 10:15 to get each account - This takes a lot of pressure of me as I have never had this much time but these are also ,more expensive and receive less - I will also now be able to contact bigger businesses with deeper pockets through calls and emails as they will have marketing people - I will now be able to do much more work from home saving me gas money as well as time and materials costs - If Beth can do it at the price point she was selling at then so can I - That is far more time than I have ever had to get just 1 account - This will result in more profitable and stable sales and allow me to not be so hurried and build the relationships better
